Tyrell Wellick offers Elliot a senior cybersecurity job at E Corp, but Elliot refuses despite the promised wealth. His fear of being watched grows, and he destroys his computer equipment. At Allsafe, Gideon rewards his work while a new fsociety video publicly demands Colby's release. Darlene brings Elliot back to the arcade, where Mr. Robot explains the next attack: destroy Steel Mountain's offline backups by causing an explosion at a nearby gas facility. Elliot objects to the likely deaths and walks away when Mr. Robot insists he must either commit to the operation or leave the group.
Elliot finds Shayla with her supplier Fernando Vera and realizes that Vera has assaulted her. Although exposing him will also interrupt Elliot's own drug supply, he sends evidence of Vera's crimes to the police. Meanwhile, Ollie accepts a promotional CD from a stranger and plays it on his laptop, allowing spyware to compromise the computer and its webcam. Elliot returns to Mr. Robot with an offer to attack Steel Mountain without killing anyone. Their conversation turns to his father, who died of leukemia after working for E Corp. Elliot describes breaking his father's request to keep the illness secret. As Elliot experiences the encounter, Mr. Robot punishes that betrayal by pushing him over the boardwalk railing onto the rocks below.
