Steven loses his museum job after the bathroom attack, because the security footage shows him causing damage without any visible monster. The keycard hidden in his flat leads to a storage locker containing money, a gun, a passport and the scarab. Marc identifies himself through a reflection as a mercenary serving Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god. He wants control of their shared body, but Steven refuses to accept his instructions without answers.
Layla arrives expecting her husband Marc and finds someone who speaks and behaves differently. She did not know Steven existed. Officers working for Harrow take Steven to their leader, who says he once served Khonshu himself. Harrow now wants to resurrect Ammit, using the scarab to locate her tomb. Steven challenges the idea of killing people before they have committed any crime. Layla interrupts, bringing the scarab, and Harrow sends another jackal after them.
Told to summon a suit, Steven produces a white jacket and mask rather than Marc's hooded armour. His Mr. Knight appearance does not give him the experience to win the fight, and he eventually lets Marc take over. Moon Knight kills the creature, but Harrow gains the dropped scarab. Khonshu sends Marc to Egypt to find the tomb first. His threat to choose Layla as his next avatar gives Marc another reason to obey, even as Steven protests being pushed aside.
