Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this part and earlier parts.
Tokyo is on the run when the Professor offers her a place in a carefully rehearsed robbery of Spain’s Royal Mint. She joins Berlin, Nairobi, Rio, Denver, Moscow, Oslo and Helsinki, each using a city name, and they enter the building in red suits and Dalí masks. Their plan is to hold the staff and students hostage while printing new banknotes instead of taking cash already in the vault. Outside, the Professor negotiates by phone with Inspector Raquel Murillo while approaching her off duty as Salva, concealing that he is the man she is trying to identify. Inside, Berlin’s command turns the hostages against the crew, and his order to Denver to kill the wounded Mónica ends with Denver sparing her. Their secret relationship grows as he hides her from the others, while the police send an undercover officer into the Mint with a medical team.
The crew’s problems spread when a group of hostages escape, exposing the unfinished tunnel and giving police details about the robbers. Oslo is left unable to recover after the hostages injure him, while Tokyo’s clashes with Berlin deepen the split inside the Mint. Raquel learns that her colleague Ángel was not a police informant: the microphone was hidden in his glasses, and his messages point toward Salva. Raquel’s mother passes that warning to Salva, who nearly poisons her before guilt makes him stop. A flashback shows the Professor and Berlin’s close bond as they sing Bella Ciao together. In the finale, Raquel takes Salva to the Toledo estate where the crew trained, and he hears that police have found their plans and personal traces. She has uncovered the operation’s base, but the crew remains trapped inside the Mint as Part 1 ends.
