Spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes of Lost.
Sawyer tells Jack, Kate and Hurley that they are on the island in 1977 and that his group has spent three years living with Dharma. He arranges to register them as incoming recruits so they can enter the barracks without exposing their origins. Juliet helps with the paperwork, and Pierre Chang assigns Jack janitorial work. During the preparations, Juliet learns that Amy has named the baby she delivered Ethan.
Jin races to the Flame station to ask Radzinsky whether a plane has arrived. Instead, the station detects an intruder, and Jin finds Sayid in the jungle. Radzinsky's presence prevents a private reunion, forcing Jin and Sawyer to treat Sayid as a captured Hostile. Sawyer takes him to the barracks jail while trying to protect the group's cover. Jack later challenges Sawyer about his decisions, but Sawyer insists on taking time to think. A boy brings Sayid food in his cell and introduces himself as Ben.
The Ajira plane has landed in 2007, thirty years apart from Sawyer's group. Frank manages to bring it down on the Hydra island runway, although the crash kills his co-pilot. Sun remains with these passengers rather than traveling with Jack. She follows Ben toward the boats, knocks him unconscious and crosses to the main island with Frank. At the abandoned barracks, Christian shows them a photograph of Jack, Kate and Hurley among Dharma's recruits and says Jin is with them in the past.
