Sayid offers to retrieve Charlotte from Locke in exchange for passage to the freighter. He takes Kate and Miles to the Barracks, where Hurley pretends to have been abandoned and helps lead them into a trap. During the search, Sayid finds Ben’s hidden collection of passports and foreign currency. Captured by Locke’s people, he negotiates Charlotte’s release by leaving Miles behind. Kate chooses to stay with Sawyer, who says he has little reason to return home.

At the helicopter clearing, Daniel asks Regina to fire a payload from the ship. It arrives late, and its clock differs from the island clock by thirty-one minutes. Before the helicopter leaves, Daniel warns Frank to follow the same bearing used on the inward journey. Desmond demands a seat because he wants answers about Naomi’s photograph of him and Penny. Frank departs with Sayid, Desmond and Naomi’s body, while Daniel and Charlotte remain on the island.

Flashforwards reveal Sayid working as an assassin after becoming one of the Oceanic Six. In Berlin, he approaches Elsa to reach her employer, then develops feelings for her. When he warns her to leave the city, she shoots him and contacts someone about his operation. Sayid kills her before seeking treatment for his wounded shoulder. The person treating him is Ben, who gives him another target despite Sayid’s warning that their enemies now know they are being hunted.
