Loki repeatedly returns to the Loom repair, trying to give Timely enough time to install the multiplier. He spends centuries learning the science from O.B. and eventually gets the device into place, but the branches keep expanding beyond anything it can manage. Returning to the Citadel confrontation, he learns that He Who Remains expected his journey. The Loom is a failsafe designed to destroy the branches while preserving the Sacred Timeline, with the TVA treated as expendable. Keeping its ruler alive would maintain that system. Loki is pushed towards killing Sylvie, but he cannot accept a solution that saves his friends by taking away everyone else's choice.
He seeks advice from earlier conversations with Mobius and Sylvie, then returns to the control room with another answer. Walking outside himself, Loki breaks the Loom and gathers the dying timeline strands. His magic restores their life as he carries them towards the End of Time and takes a solitary throne within a branching tree. The people he wanted to keep beside him can continue without him. At the TVA, the work shifts towards tracking He Who Remains' variants instead of pruning whole realities. Mobius leaves to see the life he lost and watches his counterpart with his children. Sylvie stands with him for a while, while Loki remains at the centre of the living timelines.
