Rhaena climbs onto Sheepstealer in the Vale and discovers how little control she has over the wild dragon. Elsewhere, Aegon and Larys are stopped while escaping the capital and fall into the hands of Rhaenyra's supporters. In King's Landing, Aemond decides to remain and defend the city, threatening Alicent's agreement to open it once he leaves. She persuades him that flying to Harrenhal to attack Daemon would secure his position.
The Triarchy fleet reaches the Gullet before Corlys can put his own part of the plan into action. Rhaenyra prepares to fly to the fighting, but Jacaerys has her confined and takes her place with Baela. Their dragons face ships equipped to drag them from the sky. Corlys tries to lure Lohar's ship through a dangerous channel, but the enemy vessel follows him and brings the fight aboard his own ship. Alyn kills Lohar in the struggle.
Rhaena arrives on Sheepstealer, whose flames strike allies as well as enemies. Baela pursues the unfamiliar dragon without recognising its rider, while Jace realises that Rhaena is aboard and prevents Vermax from attacking her. His turn leaves Vermax exposed to another weighted spear. The dragon crashes into the sea and sinks. Jace frees himself from the saddle and reaches the surface, but arrows from a nearby ship kill him before he can escape.
