Arya and the Hound see Robb's mutilated body paraded at the Twins. On the road, she hears Frey soldiers boasting about the massacre and stabs one; the Hound kills the others. In King's Landing, Tyrion confronts Tywin over the murders while Joffrey celebrates. Tywin orders Joffrey away and again demands an heir from Tyrion and Sansa. Jaime and Brienne reach the capital, and Jaime returns to Cersei. In the North, Theon's captor is revealed as Ramsay Snow, Roose Bolton's bastard, who forces him to accept the name Reek. Yara sets out to rescue Theon despite Balon's refusal to help.
At the Nightfort, Sam meets Bran's party, recognises his connection to Jon and gives the travellers dragonglass weapons before showing them a route beyond the Wall. Sam, Gilly and her baby continue to Castle Black, where Aemon sends warnings south. Ygritte catches Jon and shoots him with three arrows, but he escapes and reaches Castle Black wounded. Davos frees Gendry from Dragonstone before Melisandre can sacrifice him. Stannis sentences Davos to death, until news from the Watch changes their plans. Melisandre says Stannis must fight the danger in the North and will need Davos. Outside Yunkai, Daenerys tells the freed people that their freedom belongs to them. They call her Mhysa, meaning mother, surround her and lift her above the crowd.
