Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

The final season opens with Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle helping Carlos bury Alejandro, the abusive stepfather he killed while protecting Gabrielle. They agree to hide the murder, but guilt strains the friendship: Carlos drinks and enters rehab, Susan paints scenes from the burial, and Bree receives a threatening letter. Detective Chuck Vance investigates Alejandro's disappearance and harasses Bree. After the women turn against her, Bree relapses; she later learns Orson sent the letters and killed Chuck to isolate her, so she cuts ties with him and makes peace with her friends.

Susan visits Alejandro's wife and stepdaughter in Oklahoma City and learns he abused the girl too. Carlos returns from rehab intent on helping other addicts; Gabrielle finds work in a department store. Lynette and Tom stay separated while he dates Jane, but Jane ends that relationship after he admits he still loves Lynette. Ben's construction site becomes the body's hiding place. Donny, Ben's loan shark, shoots Mike after Mike tries to protect the couple. Julie, pregnant with Porter's child, decides to keep the baby. Bree is arrested for Alejandro's murder, and defense lawyer Trip takes her case.

At trial, Karen McCluskey falsely confesses to killing Alejandro so Bree can be acquitted; the court brings no charges against Karen because of her age and illness. Tom and Lynette reconcile. During Renee and Ben’s wedding, Julie gives birth while Karen dies at home beside Roy. The women share one last poker game. Lynette and Tom choose New York, Gabrielle and Carlos leave for new careers, and Bree begins a future with Trip. Susan drives away with her family as the ghosts of Wisteria Lane, including Mike, watch; a new resident moves into the Delfino house carrying a secret.
