Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Five years after season 4, the women return to a changed Wisteria Lane. Bree has built a catering business and cookbook, with Katherine as her partner; Lynette and Tom struggle with their teenage twins; and Gabrielle and Carlos raise two daughters with less money than before. Susan is divorced from Mike and raising M.J. after a crash killed Lila Dash and her daughter Paige. Edie returns with her new husband, Dave Williams, whose strange behavior soon draws Karen McCluskey's suspicion.
Dave is really David Dash, Lila's husband and Paige's father, and he has come to the lane believing Mike caused their deaths. Edie uncovers Dave's identity and flees when he tries to strangle her. Swerving to miss Orson, she crashes and is electrocuted. The women visit her son Travers with her ashes, eventually scattering them along Wisteria Lane. After Edie's death, Susan tells Dave that she, not Mike, was driving when the cars collided. He changes his target to M.J., intending to make Susan suffer as he has.
Bree's growing success strains her partnership with Katherine and her marriage to Orson, who served time during the five-year gap for running Mike down and now threatens to expose Bree's insurance fraud during their divorce. Lynette and Tom face Porter's affair with an older woman and a nightclub arson accusation, while Gabrielle and Carlos rebuild their family after Carlos regains his sight. In the finale, Dave lures Susan and M.J. toward the crash site and plans to make Mike hit them. He sees his daughter in M.J. and stops; Mike's car hits Dave's instead, leaving M.J. safe. Dave is exposed and hospitalized. Two months later, Mike marries an unnamed woman.
