Mo-yeon travels with Shi-jin to a working telephone so she can pass Manager Go's final words to his wife. The call brings the grief of the rescue home to her, and Shi-jin stays beside her afterward. Work continues at the collapsed plant, where Chi-hoon discovers another survivor. An aftershock injures his hand and frightens him into retreating. He reports the trapped man's location, but feels he has abandoned the patient. Shi-jin enters the wreckage while Mo-yeon provides medical instructions from outside. Manager Jin, desperate to reach his hidden diamonds, uses an excavator and causes another collapse.
Shi-jin and the survivor are trapped, with radio contact cut off and Shi-jin injured. Dae-young returns through the debris and opens a way out. Once the men are safe, he punches Jin, whose interference has endangered the operation. The teams arrange departures and hold a memorial for those who died. Chi-hoon's guilt continues when the survivor confronts him, while Mo-yeon gives patients priority for transport. Daniel repairs the communication equipment, allowing music from her phone to play across the base. The song is followed by her recording from the cliff. Her private confession reaches Shi-jin and everyone nearby before she can stop it. Shi-jin hears the admission with a smile while Mo-yeon runs.
