Fisk's information produces arrests against the Albanian criminal organisation, giving Ray a success that could improve his career. A prison attack on Fisk then creates pressure to move the informant somewhere the FBI can protect him. Ray persuades his superiors to approve a transfer under his supervision, accepting the risks as part of an arrangement that promises more useful intelligence. The deal is already moving Fisk towards better conditions while the authorities celebrate the people he has helped them arrest.
Matt returns to the church frustrated by his failure in the street. Maggie challenges his pride and the belief that his usefulness depends entirely on fighting as he did before. Karen interviews Neda Kazemi about the attempted kidnapping of her father and hears that a man in a black mask intervened. She brings the possible evidence of Matt's survival to Foggy, whose hurt at his friend's disappearance makes him unwilling to welcome the news without reservations.
Matt tracks the attackers to a dry-cleaning business through its distinctive smell. Despite another blow that disrupts his balance, he defeats them and leaves evidence for the police. Fisk's convoy is meanwhile ambushed, and the FBI's Benjamin Poindexter uses extraordinary accuracy to kill the attackers and secure him. At the hospital, Matt tells the Kazemis where they can identify their assailants. As ambulances arrive from the convoy attack, he overhears that Fisk has been released from prison into FBI custody.
