Seo Dan confronts Jeong-hyeok about Se-ri’s identity and the danger of helping her. At Seung-jun’s residence, Se-ri hears the same warning: the people protecting her could lose everything. He offers a marriage on paper as a way to leave through his British identity. Jeong-hyeok tracks down the house despite his injury, cuts the power and fights past the guards to reach her.
Se-ri tells him she will marry Seung-jun and says they should stop seeing each other. Her harshness is meant to keep him safe, but she cannot bear the thought of leaving him outside in the snow. She drives after him, then runs out of fuel. They shelter in an empty school and return to the village together. Man-bok hears them arrive but lies to Cheol-gang rather than give them away.
Se-ri pawns Seung-jun’s ring to buy gifts for the women and a watch for Jeong-hyeok, unaware of its connection to his brother. She also decorates a Christmas tree in his house. Before she can give him the present, armed men force her into a vehicle and make her call him with a false farewell. She tells him she loves him before the call ends with a gunshot, leaving him unable to discover where she has been taken.
