Season synopsis

After graduating, Jeff returns to Greendale as a teacher and reunites with the study group when the college faces closure. The friends organize the Save Greendale Committee and try to make the struggling school function, with Dean Pelton and Chang drawn into their schemes. Pierce is absent: his death is revealed early in the year, and the reading of his will sends the group strange gifts. Troy inherits Pierce's fortune on the condition that he sail the yacht around the world, so he leaves with LeVar Burton aboard the Childish Tycoon. Professor Buzz Hickey becomes another member of the group, bringing his experience as a police officer into a college whose committees rarely behave professionally. The school-saving work continues without Pierce or Troy, while Jeff and Britta's engagement strains under their uncertainty about the future.
The committee's efforts make Greendale attractive to Subway, which tries to buy the college. In the two-part finale, the friends search beneath the campus and find founder Russell Borchert and Raquel, his gold-lined emotion-processing computer. Jeff's reaction to Annie restarts Raquel and opens a route out of the lab. The group then gives Borchert consultation rights over Greendale's projects, and Subway withdraws its purchase offer. Jeff and Britta call off their engagement. The immediate sale threat is over, but the committee has not solved every problem at the school; it has secured another chance to keep Greendale open.
