Season synopsis

Holt begins the season working patrol after Wuntch demoted him, then gets his captain's job back when she dies. Even after their long rivalry, her death lands harder than Holt expects. Wuntch has arranged one last trap through her memorial, but Holt survives the scheme and speaks honestly about the place she held in his life.
Jake and Amy decide to try for a baby, but conception takes months and turns into a source of strain for both of them. Amy's pregnancy announcement comes after they have tried for six months, giving them time to face the uncertainty together before preparing for parenthood. Rosa also takes the squad's heists to a new level: she wins the Halloween contest, then the Valentine's Day and Easter versions, becoming the first three-time winner in precinct history.
On the night Amy goes into labor, a citywide blackout leaves the Nine-Nine managing emergencies without normal power or communications. Amy takes charge of blackout protocols at the precinct while Holt and Terry are stuck in an elevator. Across Brooklyn, Jake and Charles help keep the streets safe and stop a bank robbery, then scramble to reach Amy. Jake gets there just in time, and Amy gives birth to their son, McClane “Mac” Peralta-Santiago, with help from Rosa and the squad.
