In a flashback, Gale Boetticher sets up Gus Fring’s underground lab and urges him to hire Walter White. In the present, Victor finds Gale’s body and brings Jesse back to the lab, where Mike holds Walt. Victor says he has watched them work closely enough to cook the blue meth himself. Mike worries that Victor was seen at Gale’s apartment and calls Gus. Walt talks quickly, trying to persuade Gus that both cooks are still useful.
Skyler spots Walt’s car at home and moves it so their son will not see it. She calls Saul, but he is anxious about Gus and checks his office for listening devices. Skyler later hires a locksmith to enter Walt’s condominium and finds little. Marie struggles with Hank, who remains bedridden and irritable after being shot. At the lab, Walt pleads for his and Jesse’s lives as Gus arrives without speaking.
Gus changes into protective clothing, takes Gale’s box cutter and kills Victor in front of Walt and Jesse. He dresses again and orders them back to work. After disposing of Victor’s body, Walt and Jesse discuss their survival over breakfast. Walt still fears Gus will kill them, while Jesse believes replacing them would be too difficult. At Gale’s apartment, the police investigation has begun with his lab notebook left in plain sight.
