Demon 79

Contains spoilers for this episode.

Nida works in a department store in 1979, swallowing her anger at racist treatment from colleagues and strangers. Forced to eat lunch in the basement, she finds a talisman and marks it with blood from a cut finger. It releases Gaap, a demon who adopts the appearance of a singer she has seen on television. He tells her that three human sacrifices are required within three days to prevent the end of the world.

Nida initially refuses, but Gaap shows her a passerby's abuse of his daughter and persuades her to kill him. She next targets Keith, a customer who murdered his wife, and also kills his brother when he interrupts. Gaap then discovers that Keith cannot count toward the required total because he is already a murderer. The apparent completion of the task becomes another deadline, with Nida needing one more eligible victim.

She chooses politician Michael Smart after Gaap shows the violence and oppression his future rise will bring. Gaap discourages that choice, but Nida pursues Smart and forces his car off the road. Police stop her before she can finish the attack. In custody, she waits past the deadline as the officers dismiss her account. Nuclear destruction begins outside. Gaap faces eternal exile for failing his assignment and asks Nida to come with him. She accepts, taking his hand as they leave together for the void.
