Season 4

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

USS Callister begins inside Robert Daly’s private space adventure, where digital copies of his colleagues must obey him. Nanette Cole’s arrival gives the crew a chance to resist. They enlist her real-world counterpart to steal the biological samples Daly uses to recreate them, then steer towards a game update. Walton sacrifices himself to restore the ship’s engines. The crew reaches the public Infinity game, leaving Daly trapped in his collapsing private version.

Hang the DJ follows Amy and Frank through a dating system that assigns partners and decides how long each relationship lasts. Their first meeting is brief, and their later reunion breaks apart when Frank secretly checks its expiry time. Given another chance to meet before their supposedly permanent pairings, they decide to escape together. Their rebellion reveals that they are simulated versions of real people: repeated tests of that choice generate the match shown to Amy and Frank in a bar.

Black Museum ends the season with Nish visiting Rolo Haynes’s collection of experiments in transferred sensation and consciousness. His exhibits include a doctor addicted to pain, a woman trapped inside a toy monkey and a condemned man whose digital copy visitors can electrocute. Nish reveals that the prisoner is her father. She poisons Rolo, transfers him into the exhibit and destroys it, keeping a souvenir of his suffering. She leaves with the monkey as the museum burns, turning its proprietor’s own machinery against him.
