Liam's grain implant lets him replay almost everything he sees and hears. After an uncomfortable work appraisal, he joins his wife Ffion at a dinner party and notices her familiarity with Jonas. Other guests discuss their recorded memories, including a woman who lives without an implant. Liam pays closer attention to Ffion's laughter and glances than to the conversation around him, then carries those moments home to inspect again.
Ffion's changing account of her former relationship with Jonas gives Liam more material to question. They argue, reconcile and have sex while privately replaying earlier encounters. Liam spends the night drinking and reviewing the party. He later drives to Jonas's house, ignores warnings about his intoxication and attacks him. Threatening to cut out Jonas's grain, he forces him to erase the memories he has of Ffion.
After crashing his car, Liam reviews the assault and spots an image placing Ffion with Jonas in the marital bedroom. He confronts her about an encounter during a previous separation, near the time their daughter was conceived. Ffion eventually plays the memory he demands to see. Later Liam walks through an empty house, surrounding himself with recordings of his absent wife and daughter. He removes his grain with a razor and tweezers. The episode ends at that painful act, leaving his subsequent life unseen.
