Jimmy and Mike return the stolen detective’s notebook, claiming they found it in the police parking lot. Sanders privately reassures Mike about the investigation. Jimmy also finds Chuck practising being outdoors to improve his tolerance of electricity. Hoping to interest Chuck in legal work, he leaves files at his house. Jimmy shows Kim an office he wants to rent and proposes that they work together, but she remains loyal to HHM. Her position there worsens when the Kettlemans reject a plea deal requiring Craig to serve sixteen months and return the stolen money. They fire her and approach Jimmy instead.
Betsy reminds Jimmy that their payment implicates him in the theft. Jimmy recruits Mike, who marks cash from Jimmy’s bribe with fluorescent liquid and plants it outside the Kettleman house. They carry it inside, leaving a trail Mike follows with a blacklight to their hidden money. He removes the cash; Jimmy adds back his own payment and has Mike deliver everything to the district attorney. When Betsy threatens to expose him, Jimmy explains that admitting the bribe could put both parents in prison. The family returns to Kim and accepts her deal. Jimmy, unable to afford his planned office, goes there alone and kicks the door in frustration.
