Season synopsis

Darla arrives pregnant and sacrifices herself to give birth to Connor, a human child born to two vampires. Angel and his team try to protect the baby as factions pursue him and a prophecy appears to warn that Angel will kill his son. Daniel Holtz, an old enemy of Angel and Darla, exploits the prophecy. Wesley becomes convinced the danger is real and takes Connor away, but Holtz captures the infant and escapes with him through a portal to Quor’Toth. There, time runs faster and Holtz raises Connor into a teenage fighter.
Connor returns to Los Angeles bent on revenge, believing Angel is the monster Holtz described. Angel slowly begins to build a relationship with his son, but Holtz arranges his own death to make Connor think Angel murdered him. Cordelia’s connection with Angel is interrupted when she is called to leave Earth as a higher being. In the finale Connor attacks Angel and seals him inside a metal coffin; Justine helps sink it to the ocean floor. Cordelia ascends at the same time, leaving the team without either of them and the family conflict unresolved. Wesley’s decision has already cost him the team’s trust and his friendship with Angel. Now Connor acts on another deception, leaving Angel unable to explain Holtz’s death while the rest of the investigators do not know where he is.
