Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
The final season opens with Phil Coulson’s team chasing the Chronicoms through time to stop them erasing S.H.I.E.L.D. before it can exist. Coulson is now a Life Model Decoy, while Melinda May recovers and Jemma Simmons hides Leo Fitz’s location. Their pursuit crosses decades, as the Chronicoms and Nathaniel Malick alter key moments in the agency’s history. Daniel Sousa, a stranded agent from another era, joins them. Daisy grows close to him and learns that her mother Jiaying had another daughter, Kora.
Malick exploits future knowledge and steals Daisy’s quake abilities. In a time storm, Daisy and Coulson relive a loop until Jemma’s memory inhibitor is removed; Enoch then gives up his life to repair the time drive. Malick recruits young John Garrett. Daisy learns that her teammates interrupted Kora’s attempt to take her own life, but Kora has since sided with Malick. Malick kills Jiaying in front of Daisy at the Lighthouse. Fitz returns for the finale and explains that the team has been operating in a branched timeline. His plan depends on Kora helping them defeat the Chronicoms.
After returning to their original timeline through the Quantum Realm, Daisy battles Malick and destroys a Chronicom ship, leaving her apparently dead in space until Kora revives her. Fitz and Simmons reunite, and the team learns they have a daughter, Alya. Deke stays in the altered 1980s to lead its S.H.I.E.L.D. A year later, Mack is still director and Yo-Yo works in the field, while May teaches at Coulson Academy. Fitz and Simmons raise Alya, Daisy travels with Sousa and Kora, and Coulson sets out in Lola. The agents have finished their shared mission and moved into separate lives.
