Jack Bauer sends Meredith Reed to contact her editor while Jim Ricker traces Charles Logan's movements. Logan tells Taylor that Reed has the recording and persuades her to use the FBI to seize it. Tim Woods objects to restricting the press, but Taylor insists. Chloe and Arlo identify Ricker and locate his address, hoping to find a route to Jack before he kills again.
Wearing body armor, Jack blocks traffic in a tunnel and attacks Logan's motorcade. He disables the protection detail, forces Logan out of his limousine with gas and drags him into a service area. Under threat, Logan names Novakovich as the person who directed Tokarev. Jack knocks him unconscious and escapes before Pillar's team reaches them. Chloe releases Cole under the pretext of helping with summit security and sends him to question Ricker.
Reed discovers that the FBI has searched her newspaper's office. She calls Kayla Hassan with an offer to explain who really killed her father, but is arrested before she can speak to Dalia. Jack reaches Novakovich's residence, suffers a stab wound and kills the minister and his guards. Logan then calls President Suvarov, believing that Jack has learned nothing further. A microphone Jack planted on Logan transmits their conversation, revealing that Suvarov directed the conspiracy and ordered Renee's death. Wounded and bleeding, Jack listens to the admission.
