Jack's damaged plane crashes before CTU can establish a secure landing location. He survives with an injured leg and revives Nina, whose knowledge remains essential to finding the bomb. Michelle discovers evidence that a missile brought the plane down. Armed men pursue Jack and Nina through the crash site, forcing them to fight together. When CTU's helicopter arrives and Jack is distracted, Nina loads a rifle with ammunition she concealed and takes him hostage in front of the rescue team.
Kate wakes in Syed Ali's custody and is questioned about her father's files. Ali takes her to Paul Koplin, who is being tortured, and demands to know what they found and whom they told. At the sheriff's station, Kim learns that her planned CTU transfer has been overruled and she will be taken back to Los Angeles. Megan is released instead to her Aunt Emily in Santa Barbara, giving Kim relief that the child will be outside the threatened city.
Mason tells Tony that his radiation exposure is fatal, then pushes Bob and Reza to identify who approved the plutonium transaction linked to Ali. Reza agrees to search Warner Enterprises' records. Nina demands advance immunity for murdering Jack in exchange for Ali's location. Palmer reluctantly accepts, requiring confirmation of the information before she acts, and Jack asks him to protect Kim. Nina supplies the Starling Court address. At the house, Ali kills Paul and orders his accomplice to kill Kate.
