A doctor revives Jack after the interrogation stops his heart. O'Hara kills Stark and takes over, forcing the doctor to inject Jack with a drug that impairs his breathing. The doctor quietly begins loosening Jack's restraints, then turns a syringe on O'Hara when Jack pretends to yield. Jack frees himself and shoots his captors. Before killing O'Hara, he learns Peter Kingsley's name. He leaves the clinic weakened and struggling to make contact with CTU.
Jack finds Yusuf dying beside a payphone. Yusuf tells him that the attackers took Kate and the chip to her house, then dies before Jack can help him. Kate has promised the men money in exchange for the chip, but they refuse to release her after opening the safe. Jack reaches the house and stops them. Two flee into a bathroom with the evidence and threaten to destroy it if he forces his way inside.
Lynne starts a fire to escape her guarded room, but falls down the stairwell when Isberg catches her. Palmer rushes to her as she is taken away critically injured; Novick prevents her attempted gesture from exposing him. At CTU, Carrie demands Michelle's job in exchange for silence about Tony helping Jack. Tony reports the threat directly to Chappelle and continues defending the search. Prescott assembles the Cabinet to consider whether Palmer should remain in office.
