Jack, Yusuf and Kate are trapped at the warehouse with Wallace as his employers' gunmen close in. Michelle secretly sends Jack satellite positions despite Tony and Carrie's scrutiny. Using the information and smoke grenades, the group fights its way to a car. Kate shoots an attacker, and Wallace takes a bullet in the neck during their escape. He insists on reaching the airport, but his worsening condition forces Jack to divert to a clinic.
Wallace tells Jack that the original files are on a memory chip, then dies before explaining where he hid it. Jack notices an object on his X-ray and a scar in the same place on his body. He cuts into the concealed pocket and retrieves the chip. Palmer, meanwhile, refuses premature strikes and tries to control racist violence following the nuclear explosion. Reports from Marietta bring news of deaths during the effort to restore order.
Kim is taken to the sheriff's station, where she learns that Gary Matheson confessed to killing Carla. Her account of Megan's abuse is finally believed, and she is allowed to leave once CTU handles the legal clearance. Tony also tells her that Jack survived the flight, although she cannot speak to him. Kim calls Miguel in hospital expecting relief about the charges. He instead ends their relationship, hiding from her that his injured leg has been amputated.
