Jack collects a briefcase and enters Palmer's breakfast under Gaines's supervision. Secret Service checks the laptop inside and admits him, while Jonathan enters using Martin Belkin's face and identification. Jack meets an old school acquaintance, Jessica, and tries to leave her a written warning. Gaines notices and interrupts. In a private room, Jonathan reveals gun parts hidden beneath the laptop and forces Jack to assemble the weapon, leaving Jack's fingerprints on it before the assassin takes it away.
Nina phones CTU and learns from Tony that Jamey has been lying about speaking with her. She returns through a back entrance and explains the kidnapping to him in a room beyond the active cameras. Together they lure Jamey away from the surveillance coverage and confront her. She admits passing messages but demands a lawyer before identifying her employer. Tony warns Agent Pierce that Jack may threaten Palmer, and the Secret Service begins looking for him at the event.
Teri is reunited with Kim at the compound and searches for a way out of their locked cabin. At the breakfast, Jack grabs for an agent's gun, provoking an alarm that gets Palmer removed before Jonathan can fire. Jack's earpiece comes loose as agents restrain him. Gaines orders the women killed, but Nina and Tony make Jamey send an explanation that protects Jack's cover. Gaines accepts it and, after speaking to an unseen superior, stops Eli from shooting Teri and Kim. Jack remains in Secret Service custody.
