Gaines orders Jack back to CTU to switch the key card Milo is decoding. Jack tries to write Nina a warning, but Gaines can see him through the office cameras and forces him to destroy it. Jack swaps the cards and obtains clearance for Palmer's breakfast. Milo notices that the replacement cannot be the card he was working on, leading Nina to confront Jack. Under Gaines's orders, Jack holds her at gunpoint and takes her out of the building.
Teri persuades the impostor to stop the car, attacks him with a rock and ties him to a tree. She eventually reaches CTU and gives Jamey her location. The men who arrive claiming to be agents release her captive and seize Teri instead. Jamey discards the address, exposing her part in the operation. At the compound, Rick helps Kim slip away from Eli and prepares to get her through the fence. Kim stops when she sees her mother being brought in.
Palmer asks his family to stand beside him when he tells the truth about Keith, while Sherry suggests using damaging information to pressure Kingsley. He refuses. Elsewhere, Gaines's men follow Jack and Nina to an isolated hillside, where Gaines orders Jack to shoot her or lose his daughter. Jack fires and pushes Nina down the slope while the men watch. Tony reviews the office recording and sees Jack put a protective vest on her. Nina rises after Jack has driven away, alive because the vest stopped the bullets.
