Travel Tamriel Solo or With Friends

On this page

The publisher calls the world an ever-growing one to discover with friends or solo, and describes rich stories on a shared canvas.

Solo is a real path

A comparison of playing The Elder Scrolls Online solo against playing with friends, with PvP duels as a separate activity.
Solo and grouped play share the same canvas. Open the full image.

The store lists playing solo alongside grouped play rather than treating it as a compromise. Since storytelling is described as crafted in the same spirit as the single-player Elder Scrolls games, solo progress is the intended experience for a lot of the content.

Grouping changes what you can attempt

Discovering the world with friends is named as a feature in its own right, and duelling other players in PvP is listed beside it. That gives three overlapping activities - story, exploration and player combat - that a group can mix inside one session.

The canvas keeps growing

With a season arriving every three months, the world a group agreed on last time is not the same map later. Re-checking what is current is more useful than planning a route months in advance.

Deciding what to do tonight is covered in picking a purpose each session, and the pacing of new content in starting with the seasons.
