Make a Party of Four That Covers Each Other
On this page
In Solasta you take control of four heroes, each with unique skills that complement one another, created by choosing race, class and personality and rolling for stats.
Build them like a tabletop group
Character creation follows the pen-and-paper tradition: race, class, personality, and rolled stats. That framing is a hint about the design goal, which is a party of specialists who cover each other rather than four characters who do the same thing well.
Complement, then maximise
The store says the heroes’ unique skills complement one another and that you should tailor the squad to your preferred strategy and maximise the party’s abilities. If one hero is doing everything, the other three are the resource you are not using.
Personality reaches the dialogue
Each hero expresses themselves in the adventure, and personality is reflected in dialogue, with every action and dialogue choice becoming part of the story. Since the game is about a shattered world and an age-old cataclysm, the party is also the cast.
The dice still decide
The publisher’s own line is that you make the choices and dice decide your destiny. Planning a party is about giving the dice as many favourable situations as possible, not about removing them.
Those heroes fight in a world of levels and light: see fighting in three dimensions and using light and darkness.
