Hunt the Mages and Take What They Leave
On this page
Salt and Sacrifice casts you as one of the Marked Inquisitors, a condemned force mobilised against Mages described as merciless embodiments of elemental chaos.
The hunt is the progression
The publisher describes journeying through the western frontier pursuing, hunting and obliterating the Mages that roam the realm. Because each Mage is a distinct elemental threat rather than a generic enemy, the hunt is where both your skill and your equipment list grow.
Craft from the corpse
Weapons and armour are crafted from the otherworldly flesh and bones of the Mages you destroy. That ties the reward directly to the risk, which means a Mage you keep avoiding is also an equipment tier you have not unlocked.
You are condemned, not conscripted
The store notes that you may be bound to the Inquisition but your choices are yours. With a buried secret threatening an ancient empire underneath the Mage threat, the story path is a decision rather than a fixed order.
Expect a labyrinth
The world is described as large and labyrinthine, filled with scavengers, secrets, traps and powerful guardians. Progress is therefore about route knowledge as much as combat, and a hunt that ends badly is still information.
What you do with those remains is covered in choosing between runic arts and weapons. And the game is built for company, as described in what co-op and PvP add.
