Specialise With Weapons, Armour and Mods

On this page

The official description promises experience, loot and upgrade materials from hostile environments, used to build a wicked arsenal of weapons, armour and modifications to approach each encounter in dozens of unique ways.

Weapons are the spine

Four parts of a Remnant build: weapons, armour, modifications and the upgrade materials earned from bosses.
Weapons, armour and mods are described as one way to approach an encounter. Open the full image.

An arsenal is the publisher’s own framing, which means weapon choice leads and everything else supports it. Decide what your weapon is for, then let armour and modifications solve the specific encounters that weapon struggles with.

Armour sets how much risk you can take

Because encounters are described as approaching dozens of unique ways, armour is less about raw protection than about the risk you are willing to carry into a fight. Heavier setups change your timing; lighter ones change your margin for error.

Mods convert a losing fight

Modifications are the part of the list that most directly changes an answer. When a boss keeps beating the same plan, a mod that adds a different kind of damage or control is usually cheaper than rebuilding the entire loadout.

Build progress follows the rerolled worlds, so read worlds reroll, so plan for it. For the fights that assume help, see bringing two survivors.
