Build Around Your Charms

On this page

The official description calls Charms ancient relics that offer bizarre new powers and abilities, and says to choose your favourites to make your journey unique.

The limit is the design

Charms are described as a selection rather than a complete set you simply switch on. That creates the real decision: two useful charms can still be mutually exclusive if your capacity cannot hold both, so the build is defined by what you leave out.

Match the charm to the obstacle

A route that keeps ending in the same fall, or a boss that keeps beating the same attempt, is usually a candidate for a different selection rather than more practice. Changing the loadout is the cheapest experiment the game offers.

Abilities and charms are separate ladders

Spells, strength, speed, wings and the dash are described as permanent abilities you evolve into, while Charms are the relics you equip. Keeping the two straight stops you waiting for a relic to solve something only an ability can.

Let the kingdom set the price

Because Hallownest is described as vast and open, the correct charm set changes as you push into colder, deeper or more hostile regions. Re-checking your favourites when the environment changes saves more attempts than optimising one set for everything.

Charms support a route rather than replacing it: read routing Hallownest. And keep notes on what is beating you with the Hunter’s Journal.
