Things We Left Behind is a contemporary romance by Lucy Score, published in 2023 and the third novel in her series set in the town of Knockemout.

Lucian Rollins is a man who has spent his life building an empire as a form of vengeance, accumulating money and power so that nobody can threaten him again, and the one person who keeps him awake at night is the librarian from his hometown. Sloane Walton intends to carry on her father's quest for justice, and before she can finish it she has to establish exactly what Lucian did to her family, or for it. The dislike between them is genuine and long-standing, and it rests on a secret from years ago that neither of them has been willing to explain. When an argument finally turns into something else, both of them have to decide what they are prepared to admit, and the small town around them has firm opinions about the answer.

Score writes romance in which the couple's history is the obstacle rather than an external threat, and the novel's length is spent on two stubborn people slowly telling each other the truth.
