Things We Hide from the Light

Things We Hide from the Light is a contemporary romance by Lucy Score, published in 2023 and the second novel in her Knockemout series.

Nash Morgan built a reputation as the easy-going Morgan brother, the one who smiled and charmed his way through any situation, and then he was shot while doing his job. His body has healed, and privately he is frightened: panic attacks and nightmares have replaced the charm, and he is determined that nobody in his life will find out. His next-door neighbour Lina notices anyway. She is not a woman who likes being touched unless she is the one doing the touching, yet she finds that Nash's presence does not affect her the way everybody else's does. He feels the same difference, and the physical attraction between them becomes the one thing that lets him sleep. The complication is that Lina has her own reasons for being in town, and if Nash discovers the truth he will not forgive her.

Score writes small-town romance in long books with a great deal of attention to the characters' ordinary lives, and this novel is about a man learning the difference between being looked after and being pitied.
