The Long Game
Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have been together for ten years and have told nobody: not their families, not their friends and not the league they both play in.
About
The Long Game is a romance novel by the Canadian writer Rachel Reid, published by Carina Press in 2022 and part of the Game Changers series.
Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have been involved with each other for ten years, and in all that time nobody outside the two of them has known. Their friends and families have been kept in the dark, and so has the league they both play in, because being open would put Shane's position at risk. Shane is willing to pay that price and believes he has to. Ilya is tired of living that way, and has started to wonder whether Shane's discretion is carefulness or a reluctance to commit to anything that anybody could see. The novel follows the two of them towards a decision about which of the things they want they are prepared to lose. What they have to choose between is the game and each other, because being open would cost Shane the position he has spent his career building, and Ilya has reached the point where the secrecy itself feels like an answer. This is the book in which they finally make that call.
