Hal and the Herons have returned home to Skandia after defeating the pirate captain Zavac and recovering the Andomal, and with their honour restored they take on a new mission: tracking down an old rival, Tursgud, who has grown from a bully into a pirate and a slave trader.

About

Slaves of Socorro is an adventure novel for younger readers by the Australian writer John Flanagan, published in 2014. It is the fourth book of the Brotherband Chronicles.

Hal and the other Herons have come home to Skandia after defeating the pirate captain Zavac and reclaiming the Andomal, the object the Skandians prize above every other, so their honour is restored along with the artifact. It was stolen while the Herons were in a position to be blamed for losing it, and that is why the work of getting it back belongs to them.

With that settled, the crew takes on a new mission, which is to find an old rival who has become a bitter enemy. Tursgud, who leads the Shark Brotherband and has been Hal's opponent since they were boys, has turned from a bullying youth into a pirate and a slave trader.

When Tursgud captures twelve villagers from Araluen to sell as slaves, the Heron crew sails out after him, on the way receiving help from one of Araluen's finest Rangers, and the novel follows the pursuit and what the crew has to do to put a stop to him.
