Sacred Stone
An ancient artifact with catastrophic radioactive power is unearthed in the remote wastes of Greenland, and the find puts the rest of the world at risk.
About
Sacred Stone is an adventure novel by the American writer Clive Cussler, published in 2004. It is the second book about the Oregon and her captain, Juan Cabrillo.
The Oregon Files began with Golden Buddha, and this book follows it, with the enigmatic captain of the Oregon, Juan Cabrillo, taking on another job that nobody else was willing to take. The Oregon is a ship that does work for clients who would rather their names were not attached to it, and Cabrillo is the man who takes those jobs.
The story starts in the remote wastes of Greenland, where an ancient artifact that carries catastrophic radioactive power is unearthed. The find does not stay secret, and it puts the whole world at risk.
Caught between two militant factions that are prepared to slaughter one another, and anyone else who gets in the way, over the object, Cabrillo and his network of spies known as the Corporation have to protect the stone. If they cannot do it, and cannot do it in time, what follows is a third world war, and the novel follows how they set about preventing it.
