Restore me

Restore Me is a novel by the American writer Tahereh Mafi, published in 2018. It is the fourth book in the Shatter Me series.

Juliette has spent the earlier books being treated as a weapon, and this one begins with her holding an office she never asked for. She is the Supreme Commander of North America, with a base, a staff and a set of commanders who do not accept her authority, and she has Warner beside her, which is the one part of the arrangement she wanted. The book deals with the distance between the victory she imagined and the position she has actually taken up: an administration to run, decisions with consequences she cannot see, and an enemy who has not stopped working against her. When a death touches the people closest to her, the isolation of the office becomes a practical problem rather than a matter of feeling.

Mafi writes the series in a close first person with a distinctive fragmented style, and the novels follow Juliette as she works out how much of the person she was made into she is prepared to be.
