Granny Weatherwax and her small coven come home to Lancre and find crop circles in the fields, which means that the boundaries between worlds are thin.

About

Lords and Ladies is a fantasy novel by the English writer Terry Pratchett, originally published in 1992. It is the fourteenth book of the Discworld series.

Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick come back to the kingdom of Lancre after their adventure in Genua. Magrat is surprised to find that King Verence has already arranged their wedding in her absence, which is not the welcome she was expecting. She is not pleased about an arrangement that was made without her.

The appearance of crop circles tells Granny and Nanny that it is circle time, a moment when parallel universes come close enough for the Discworld to be invaded from the parasite universe the elves come from. The elves are capable of making themselves seem wonderful, and they are not.

Parts of the plot are a spoof of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the book has the usual supporting cast of dwarfs, wizards, trolls and morris dancers. Granny Weatherwax is the witch the series keeps coming back to, and she is the one who has to deal with them.
