About
A Caribbean Mystery is a mystery novel by the English writer Agatha Christie, first published in 1964. It features her detective Miss Marple.
After a bout of ill health, Miss Marple is sent on holiday to the Golden Palm resort on the Caribbean island of St Honoré, at her nephew's expense. She listens without much interest to the lengthy reminiscences of a fellow guest, Major Palgrave, until he begins telling her about a man who murdered a succession of wives and was never caught.
Palgrave then produces a photograph of the alleged killer from his wallet and is about to show it to her when he looks over her right shoulder, abruptly changes the subject and puts the photograph away. Miss Marple has noticed that there were several people in the direction he looked. The next day the maid, Victoria, finds Major Palgrave dead in his room, and Miss Marple asks the local doctor, Dr Graham, to search for the photograph Palgrave had mentioned, pretending that it is a picture of her nephew. The search comes to nothing, and after that she interviews the other guests herself.
