Rebuild Your Loadout When Conditions Change
On this page
The publisher describes conditions and mutators that add a spontaneous challenge to a mission, and says the team must learn to adjust, adopt new tactics and change up their loadouts to face them.
Read the conditions before the drop
Mutators are described as erratic whims of Chaos layered onto a mission. Since the store says teams must change loadouts in response, the conditions are a briefing rather than flavour text, and reading them is the cheapest preparation available.
Let the mission pick the weapon
A mission that punishes ranged play and one that punishes melee ask for different kits. Because Darktide expects you to move between both halves of combat, the loadout decision is about which half your mission is more likely to demand.
Assign the gaps
Classes determine traits and skill sets, which gives each player a natural focus. Before the drop, agree who is watching for the threats that capture strays and who is handling the ones that hold ground.
Expect the plan to change mid-mission
The hive is described as hard and unforgiving, with danger that arrives in waves. The loadout you brought is a starting position, not a guarantee, and the team that adapts fastest is the one that extracts.
Spacing and conditions are connected: stay inside your team’s reach keeps toughness flowing, and balancing melee and ranged is the plan you bring into it.
