The Man Behind the Glass

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Ronette's hospital crisis reveals a new intrusion into the murder inquiry. Someone has tampered with her intravenous line and placed another paper letter beneath her fingernail, a detail that was never made public. Cooper tells Truman and Albert about the Giant's visits and draws connections among the people who have seen BOB. Albert confirms that the cocaine in James's motorcycle was planted, allowing James to go home. His argument with Truman ends unexpectedly when he explains that his harsh manner coexists with a firm rejection of revenge and violence. The two men begin to understand each other beyond their earlier confrontation.

Donna meets Harold Smith, a man who cannot leave his house and knew Laura through Meals on Wheels. He gives Donna an orchid to place on Laura's grave, while her jealousy over James and Maddy grows. Audrey is held and drugged at One Eyed Jacks, where Jean Renault plans to use her ransom to draw Cooper into a trap. Leland supplies the name Robertson from his childhood memory, and Gerard's abandoned medication gives Cooper another link to the Giant's clues. Nadine wakes convinced that she is a teenager. Jacoby's recovered memory leads Cooper and Truman to arrest Leland for Jacques's murder. Donna returns to Harold's house and discovers that he possesses Laura's secret diary.
