Bobby approaches Ben with Leo's recording of the mill plot and asks for work. Ben gives him a first assignment: follow Hank and bring back something useful. Cooper, meanwhile, considers buying property in Twin Peaks and becomes interested in the neglected Dead Dog Farm. Fresh tracks and cocaine there suggest that its apparent emptiness has provided cover for a recent meeting. At the hotel, Dougie Milford dies on his wedding night, and his brother blames Lana despite Doc Hayward's finding of natural causes. Nadine's strength and pursuit of Mike continue to disturb the school, while James becomes more involved with Evelyn and her troubled marriage.
Colonel Reilly questions Cooper about Major Briggs's disappearance and clarifies that the message Briggs brought came from the nearby woods. Bobby's photographs show Hank with Jean Renault, Ernie Niles and the Canadian officer at Dead Dog Farm. Audrey takes the pictures to Cooper, giving him the connection needed to challenge the drug allegations. Denise confronts Ernie, who agrees to cooperate with a police operation rather than face prison. Catherine keeps Josie working as a servant, and Windom's next chess move anticipates Cooper's reply before it appears in print. At home, Bobby and his mother are startled when Major Briggs returns in an old flying uniform. His absence has ended, but he cannot offer a reassuring explanation.
