Su-ho's father apologizes from his hospital bed, and Su-ho remains in the United States to support his recovery. A planned return to Korea falls through when his father's condition worsens. Ju-kyung waits at the airport without knowing why he has not arrived, then learns that he must stay. When he decides to end their relationship because he cannot say when he will return, she insists that she is willing to wait. He still presses for the breakup. Time carries Ju-kyung through her studies and into makeup work, while Seo-jun remains a close friend and prepares for his own singing career.
After helping Ju-kyung home from drinks with her school friends, Seo-jun admits his feelings. He follows the confession with dinner and asks her to try three dates with him. Ju-kyung is unsure how to see him differently, and a visit to Namsan brings an unexpected meeting with Su-ho. He says he missed her, but she remains angry about being left. A painful stomach problem briefly sends them to hospital together, adding embarrassment to the reunion. Su-ho keeps trying to contact her as she goes ice-skating with Seo-jun. When Seo-jun helps with a cut on her hand, she thinks of Su-ho. The date ends at Prince Comics, where Su-ho sees Seo-jun embracing her.
