Voleth Meir uses Ciri's body to murder witchers at Kaer Morhen while the girl's mind remains inside an illusion of her family in Cintra. Geralt discovers the deception and insists they try to save her. The demon breaks the medallion tree, exposes a monolith and opens a passage for monsters. The witchers fight the creatures while Geralt tries to reach the child being held behind their enemy's face. Attacking Ciri only gives the demon more hatred to consume.
Yennefer offers herself as a new vessel, and Geralt calls Ciri back to the family she has in the present. Ciri rejects the illusion, allowing Voleth Meir to leave her. A portal carries Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri into another realm, where the demon departs and the Wild Hunt approaches. Ciri brings them back before the riders can take her. Yennefer's magic returns, and Geralt asks her to train the princess, although the betrayal between them has not been forgiven.
Beyond the fortress, the hunt for Ciri spreads. Northern rulers place a bounty on her and her protectors, while the elves learn that her Elder Blood may answer their own hopes. Francesca takes revenge for her daughter's death by killing human babies in Redania. In Cintra, Emhyr exposes Cahir and Fringilla's lie about ordering the elven baby's murder. He ordered it himself, and the emperor is revealed as Duny, Ciri's father.
