The detectives arrange for Templeton to receive a call from McNulty’s fake killer. Disguising his voice, McNulty says the killer will send pictures instead of bodies, drawing the police and Sun deeper into the case. Freamon tries to decipher Marlo’s clock-face photographs while McNulty gives overtime to detectives working other cases. Bunk skips a briefing and returns to the vacant murders. Carver brings Michael in for questioning about his stepfather. Omar robs a Stanfield stash house, kills a soldier and later traps and kills Savino, telling Michael that he will keep targeting Marlo’s people until Marlo confronts him.

Gus doubts Templeton’s homeless account, asks Mello about false court identities and sends Fletcher to report from the streets. Bubbles guides Fletcher to people living near the expressway, refuses payment and tells him to write what it feels like. Davis hires Billy Murphy and charms the jury; Bond and Pearlman are stunned when Davis is acquitted. Kima, assigned full-time to the supposed killer investigation, starts checking earlier homeless deaths for connections to the case. Bunk keeps pressing Michael about the rowhouse murders. Away from the investigation, Kima spends a weekend with Elijah and struggles to assemble a bed before settling him with a quiet bedtime story.
