Avon and Stringer arrange for a junior college player to join their Westside team in a basketball game against Proposition Joe’s Eastside. D’Angelo gives him money and permission to return to school, but Poot later finds Wallace buying drugs. Bubbles and Johnny see Walon, a speaker from their recovery meeting, at the towers. Bubbles steals what he thinks is a stash and uses it with Johnny, only to discover it is baking soda. His sister gives him a basement key as he tries to get clean.
Omar seeks a meeting with Eastside leader Proposition Joe and trades part of his stolen supply for Avon’s pager number. He lures Avon to Orlando’s by using Wee-Bey’s code. Avon senses something is wrong and moves away as Omar opens fire; Wee-Bey wounds Omar, who escapes. At the same time, Freamon has Prez and Sydnor trace the Barksdale money through campaign records and front businesses. Sydnor recognises Avon from Freamon’s boxing poster at the basketball game. The detail has its first clear sighting of the man McNulty has been trying to identify. Shardene identifies Keisha’s body to police and agrees to cooperate; she also moves out of D’Angelo’s home.
