Jackie hides in a Boonton apartment and calls Tony for help, receiving none. Tony presses Ralph to resolve the situation, and Vito shoots Jackie in the back of the head when he leaves his refuge. The killing is presented to the family as a drug deal gone wrong. Separately, an undercover FBI operative calling herself Danielle befriends Adriana, while Paulie complains to Johnny Sack about Tony's ruling in a financial dispute with Ralph.
AJ is expelled after stealing examination answers. Tony insists on military school, while Carmela worries about its effect on their son. They visit the academy and eventually agree to send him, but AJ collapses in a panic attack while wearing his uniform. The plan is abandoned. Tony tells Melfi that he fears AJ inherited his own condition and wonders how to help him without the discipline he expected the school to provide.
At Jackie's funeral, Meadow doubts the explanation for his death, although she defends the family when his sister blames their criminal world. The gathering afterward moves to Vesuvio, where Junior sings for the mourners. Drunk and increasingly angry, Meadow throws pieces of bread toward him and runs outside. Tony follows, but she rejects the scene as dishonest and leaves. He returns to Carmela and AJ while Junior's song continues around them.
