From Where to Eternity

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Christopher survives emergency treatment after his shooting but tells visitors he briefly went to hell. He describes seeing dead associates and his father, along with a message for Tony and Paulie about three o'clock. Tony rejects the account as a drug-induced dream. In therapy, he argues that men in his position are soldiers rather than people destined for punishment. Christopher's account nevertheless unsettles the men who come to see him in hospital.

Paulie tries to reassure himself that Christopher visited purgatory, calculating the time he expects to spend there before reaching heaven. His confidence collapses after a psychic appears to know details of his first murder and speaks of other victims. Paulie turns to his priest for an explanation. When the priest cannot promise the protection Paulie believes his donations purchased, he announces that he will stop giving money to the church and leaves still frightened.

An informant helps Tony and Pussy locate Matt, who insists that Richie had nothing to do with the shooting. Tony fires first, and Pussy joins him in killing the young man. Afterwards, they share a meal and memories of earlier days together. At home, Carmela raises the possibility of a vasectomy because she fears another woman becoming pregnant by Tony. He eventually agrees, but she changes her mind, and the argument gives way to intimacy.
